Bruce Highway Upgrade – Caloundra Road to Sunshine Motorway (CR2SM)
Location: Sunshine Coast
Start Date: August 2019
Completion Date: August 2021
Client: Transport and Main Roads Queensland
The Bruce Highway Upgrade – Caloundra Road to Sunshine Motorway (CR2SM) project was delivered as a Fulton Hogan Seymour Whyte joint venture on behalf of Transport and Main Roads Queensland.
The project involved upgrading the Bruce Highway to six lanes between Caloundra Road and the Sunshine Motorway. Major upgrades to both interchanges and a new two-way service road for local traffic between Steve Irwin Way and Tanawha Tourist Drive will separate long-distance traffic and local traffic. The works enabled the highway to function as a high-speed, high-volume corridor.
This project will reduce congestion, increase capacity, and improve safety to support the Sunshine Coast’s continued growth.
Mi Electric was awarded the ITS electrical contract in 2019 and commenced works in 2020. Mi Electric is in the final stages of completing the ITS onsite, including installing and constructing vehicle detector loops, ramp metering systems, variable speed limit systems, CCTV and web cameras.
